Principal Mechanical Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: Hybrid, based at a hirify.global US location: Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Santa Clara, TX; Ashburn, VA; New Albany, OH; Shackelford County, TX; Atlanta, GA; or Quincy, WA. Three days onsite and two days remote are required.

Salary: $170,000–$185,000 base plus bonus, with compensation varying by location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.

What you will do

• Define mechanical engineering strategy across North American data center projects.
• Lead complex technical problem-solving and provide guidance on design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Review and approve critical design decisions, submittals, and change management actions.
• Partner with electrical, architectural, operations, and innovation engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Represent mechanical engineering in strategic forums, customer engagements, RFP responses, and technical presentations.
• Mentor engineers, improve design standards, and lead forensic analysis and root cause investigations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design, construction, and operations, including required data center or mission-critical experience.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Expertise with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, CFD modeling, Excel, or Power BI.
• Knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and industry best practices.
• Up to 15–25% travel is expected and may increase as business needs evolve.
