What you will do

• Design HVAC and mechanical utility systems, including airside, chilled water, heating hot water, steam, natural gas, and compressed air systems.
• Prepare load, envelope, pressure drop, energy, and other engineering calculations.
• Develop drawings, P&IDs, schedules, specifications, schematics, equipment selections, and construction documentation.
• Coordinate designs with clients, manufacturers, vendors, construction trade partners, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support construction administration through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reports.
• Mentor Mechanical Designer I and expand capabilities in complex mechanical systems and equipment.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience and completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Basic experience designing HVAC, mechanical utility, piping, and related systems.
• Experience with engineering calculations and compliance with applicable building and mechanical codes.
• Ability to coordinate with project teams and work under the direction of Lead or Senior Engineers.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu.
• LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation, or experience with sustainable design.
• Life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, or food and beverage industry experience.
• Experience with plumbing design, field surveys, Revit plugins, Dynamo, Grasshopper, or Rhino.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA standards.
