Director of Paralegal Services

Location: Boston, United States

Salary: $250,000–$300,000 per year, varying by location and relevant experience

What you will do

• Lead the evolution of paralegal service delivery across litigation, transactional, and other legal practices.
• Design scalable operating models covering specialization, staffing, workflows, technology, geography, talent, and management.
• Own the paralegal talent lifecycle, including career paths, skill development, manager coaching, performance, and retention.
• Define and execute the service evolution roadmap using operational metrics, stakeholder feedback, process improvement, and innovation.
• Lead adoption of generative AI, workflow automation, and other enabling technologies where they create value.
• Provide executive oversight of performance, resource allocation, quality standards, escalations, and case assistant services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Significant progressive leadership experience in a large law firm, preferably with AmLaw 100 experience.
• Experience transforming a legal function and designing and implementing new operating models.
• Experience managing the full talent lifecycle and developing managers.
• Strong knowledge of legal workflows, legal industry trends, legal technology, and the role of non-attorney timekeepers.
• Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, change leadership, and relationship-building skills.
