Focus on analyzing cascading risks, evaluating generator and transmission equipment, developing reliability improvements, and solving complex grid engineering issues.

Location: Taylor, Texas; hybrid schedule with on-site work required at least 2 days per week. Remote work must be performed from a Texas residence.

Salary: $87,000–$120,000 annually; final salary and level depend on overall experience.

What you will do

  • Perform steady-state power-flow simulations using PSSE, VSAT, PowerWorld, and related tools.
  • Evaluate Constraint Management Plans, Remedial Action Schemes, regional power transfers, and wide-area cascading risks.
  • Develop and maintain the hirify.global Black Start Plan, including resource selection and restoration planning.
  • Evaluate generator and transmission equipment performance against reliability requirements and forecast future needs.
  • Develop system models, monitoring and control tools, procedures, studies, and recommendations for current and future grid issues.
  • Present analyses, participate in stakeholder meetings, lead multifunctional studies, and mentor less experienced engineers and analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience as a power systems engineer or in a similar role, beyond degree requirements.
  • Experience with power-flow simulations and programming or scripting.
  • Ability to make independent decisions, resolve complex engineering issues, and act as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Must work on-site in Taylor, Texas at least 2 days per week; remote work is limited to a Texas residence.
  • PE license is preferred but not required; graduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
