Tool and Die Maker – Manual Machinist (Manufacturing)

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; onsite

Salary: Starting at $38.17 per hour, plus a third-shift differential.

What you will do

• Manufacture, repair, modify, refurbish, and rebuild dies, precision tooling, fixtures, and mechanical components for high-speed can-making machinery.
• Operate Bridgeport mills, manual lathes, grinders, and other conventional machine tools; operate CNC equipment when required.
• Read blueprints and mechanical drawings, set up machines, and produce parts to exact specifications.
• Inspect components using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, pumps, and other industrial production equipment, including welding, plasma cutting, and fabrication work.
• Support maintenance and production teams while organizing tooling, following lockout/tagout procedures, and maintaining a safe work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of experience in tool and die making, manual machining, manufacturing, or a related industrial machining environment.
• Hands-on experience with manual machine tools such as Bridgeport mills, lathes, or grinders.
• Experience building, repairing, maintaining, or rebuilding dies, tooling, or precision mechanical components.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and machining specifications, with strong mechanical aptitude and precision measurement skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

Nice to have

• Trade school or technical machining education.
• Experience with conventional milling, turning, grinding, die maintenance, tooling rebuilds, dimensional inspection, and industrial equipment repair.
• Experience with welding, fabrication, plasma cutting, gearboxes, pumps, or high-speed production equipment.
