AI Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. This position is onsite and limited to U.S. persons eligible to access export-controlled information.

Salary: $121,600–$194,500 per year, with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity.

What you will do

• Define technical strategy and reference architecture for AI software delivery, GenAI applications, agentic workflows, ML services, and cloud-based data and AI platforms.
• Lead cloud deployment standards across development, testing, validation, and production, including lakehouse architecture, Unity Catalog, MLflow, model serving, automation, observability, and access governance.
• Build critical software components, APIs, orchestration patterns, model-serving interfaces, reusable libraries, and platform accelerators.
• Establish AI/ML/LLMOps practices covering testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, release management, model and prompt versioning, evaluation, monitoring, incident response, and rollback.
• Integrate SAP and enterprise data sources into trusted data products, feature pipelines, semantic layers, and decision-support services for supply chain, quality, manufacturing, finance, and digital stakeholders.
• Partner with product, architecture, cybersecurity, quality, validation, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure, reliable, cost-efficient, and GxP-compliant systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent deep technical experience.
• 4+ years of software, data, or AI engineering experience, including 2+ years delivering production ML, GenAI, analytics, automation, or data-intensive systems.
• Expert proficiency in Python and SQL, strong software architecture fundamentals, and experience with Java, Scala, TypeScript, or another additional programming language.
• Hands-on frontend experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and a modern framework such as React, Angular, Vue, or Svelte, plus backend experience designing production APIs and services.
• Experience architecting and operating LLM/GenAI systems, including RAG, agents, tool use, embeddings, vector search, evaluation, guardrails, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws; non-U.S. persons cannot be sponsored for an export control license.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain, quality, or another regulated operational domain.
• Experience with SAP-centric supply chain systems and integration patterns, including ECC/S/4HANA, IBP, MM, PP, QM, SD, EWM/WM, MDG, or BTP.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical direction across global teams.
