AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Full-time onsite in Aiea, Hawaii, United States. Requires a current DoD Top Secret SCI security clearance and US citizenship.

Salary: $140,000–$173,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and support AI-enabled systems that improve operational workflows and decision-making.
• Transform business and military operational processes into integrated AI tools, workflows, and agentic systems.
• Use Maven Smart System as the primary AI and operational integration platform.
• Develop RAG workflows, AI agents, prompt templates, structured outputs, and reusable AI patterns.
• Integrate AI capabilities with cloud environments, APIs, databases, knowledge repositories, dashboards, and workflow tools.
• Support AI governance, human-in-the-loop review, data protection, auditability, and evaluation of system accuracy and usefulness.

Requirements

• Current DoD Top Secret SCI security clearance and US citizenship are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, data science, software engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field; additional experience may substitute.
• 5–8 years of relevant technical experience developing AI-enabled systems, automation, workflows, or data integrations.
• Strong understanding of cloud environments, AI tools, APIs, databases, and system integration.
• Experience with RAG, LLMs, AI agents, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, and AI evaluation.
• Must meet applicable DoD 8140 / DCWF requirements; relevant IAT, IAM, or IASAE-equivalent certification is preferred.

Nice to have

• Military operational experience or experience supporting operational, intelligence, or defense organizations.
• Experience with Palantir or Maven Smart System.
• Experience with Python, APIs, data pipelines, AI development frameworks, internal LLM development, fine-tuning, or domain adaptation.
