AI/ML Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: McLean, VA; full-time onsite work required. U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with required polygraph are required.

Salary: $165,000–$220,000–$242,000 annually in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Up to $15,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain AI/ML applications using agent-based workflows, LLM integrations, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Design agent architectures covering orchestration logic, tool use, memory management, and external system integrations.
• Build RAG pipelines for document processing, embedding generation, retrieval configuration, prompt assembly, and response optimization.
• Develop Python-based REST APIs and support full-stack production AI applications.
• Process structured and unstructured data and refine Postgres schemas and data models.
• Optimize enterprise applications for performance, reliability, usability, maintainability, and scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Senior-level experience: 8 years with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a master’s degree, or 6 years with a doctorate.
• U.S. citizenship and an active/current TS/SCI security clearance with required polygraph.
• Willingness to work onsite full time in McLean, Virginia.
• Proficiency in Python and common data and AI libraries.
• Experience developing LLM-integrated applications, RAG workflows, agent-based applications, REST APIs, and production-ready software.

Nice to have

• Experience with MCP or similar protocols, vector databases, embedding models, semantic search, and LLM memory management.
• Experience with FastAPI or Flask, Docker, AWS, Postgres, and full-stack agent-based applications.
• Experience optimizing prompts, tool orchestration, latency, context windows, evaluation, observability, and cost-performance tradeoffs.
