Professional Engineer, Structural Engineering (Heavy Industrial)

Location: Duluth, Minnesota or Bloomington, Minnesota; candidates must reside within regular commuting distance of one location. Hybrid schedule typically includes three office days and two remote days. Regular travel of 10–20% to offices, project and client locations, conferences, and site inspections is required.

What you will do

• Manage portfolios of heavy industrial structural engineering projects from conception through construction.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams delivering facility design, demolition, balance-of-plant, and material-handling projects.
• Own technical, quality, and financial aspects of projects while coordinating structural designs with other disciplines.
• Scope requirements, lead structural design, verify calculations, validate equipment sizing and selection, and prepare drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Support market development through business plans, client relationships, proposals, fee estimates, and client presentations.
• Coach and mentor less experienced structural engineering professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Professional Engineer license and 5–15 years of experience designing buildings and building-type structures and preparing plans and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of steel, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and precast concrete design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience coordinating structural designs with multidisciplinary teams and following design standards and quality assurance procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and availability to travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Experience with heavy industrial or mining projects.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing EITs or recently licensed professional engineers.
• Client relationship management and business development experience, including proposals and fee estimates.
