Structural Engineer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. Four days per week are worked in the office, with flexibility to work outside the office on Fridays.

What you will do

• Participate in the design of structural building systems from schematic design through construction administration.
• Develop structural designs from concept through construction completion.
• Prepare structural engineering drawings, design calculations, layouts, reports, and narratives.
• Coordinate structural design requirements with architecture and other disciplines.
• Assist with project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• 2–7 years of building structural engineering experience.
• Experience designing concrete, masonry, steel, and wood structures.
• Experience with gravity and lateral structural systems.
• Ability to work in an integrated, interdisciplinary design environment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Experience with consulting engineering or architecture/engineering firms, including internships or co-op placements.
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
• Experience with BIM workflows, including Autodesk Revit Structural.
• Working knowledge of ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, or Enercalc, plus interest in sustainable building design.
