Staff Infrastructure Engineer (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Design and operate Kubernetes platforms across 100+ AWS EKS and Outposts clusters.
• Own and mature the Kong Mesh platform for secure service-to-service communication, traffic management, retries, timeouts, and observability.
• Define zero-trust networking, certificate lifecycle, mTLS, workload isolation, resource management, and cluster configuration patterns.
• Build infrastructure-as-code, automation, runbooks, and tooling that reduce operational toil.
• Set SLOs, monitor platform reliability, lead incident response, and drive root-cause remediation.
• Partner with platform and product teams, evaluate infrastructure tools, and mentor engineers on Kubernetes, service mesh, and distributed systems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in platform infrastructure, SRE, cloud infrastructure, or related work.
• Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience, including cluster architecture, multi-cluster operations, scheduling, networking, security, and troubleshooting.
• Strong service mesh expertise with Kong Mesh, Istio, Linkerd, or Envoy-based systems, including mTLS, traffic policies, and zero-trust networking.
• Working knowledge of AWS networking, security, VPCs, and hybrid environments such as Outposts.
• Experience with distributed systems, infrastructure SLOs and SLIs, operational automation, and at least one modern programming language.
• Experience mentoring engineers, communicating technical constraints, and influencing technical direction.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Envoy, AWS Outposts, hybrid cloud, Datadog, or eBPF-based networking tools such as Cilium.
• CNCF Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKS, or CKAD.
• Experience in regulated industries involving network segmentation, auditability, strict controls, and high availability.
