TL;DR
Account Manager (District Energy): Managing and growing district energy customer accounts and developing new revenue opportunities with an accent on value-based selling, contract renewals, and executive customer relationships. Focus on negotiating long-term sales contracts, identifying energy-efficiency opportunities, and resolving service, billing, and retention issues.

Location: Kansas City, Missouri, United States; occasional travel required up to 20% of the time.

What you will do

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of existing district energy customer accounts.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new revenue opportunities, including beyond-the-meter services and energy-efficiency upgrades.
  • Retain customers, manage contract renewals, and negotiate long-term sales agreements.
  • Build executive and operational relationships while serving as the primary customer contact.
  • Resolve service, billing, collections, and other customer issues to drive satisfaction.
  • Track account data in the CRM, monitor attrition risks, and promote new products and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of sales or account management experience.
  • Ability to interpret, develop, and negotiate complex agreements.
  • Experience developing consultative relationships at executive and operational levels.
  • Ability to hold strategic conversations with technical, managerial, and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in Kansas City, Missouri, with occasional travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of the energy and utilities industry.
  • Experience recommending energy solutions to institutional or commercial property stakeholders.
  • Experience in public policy, government, energy, or environmental policy.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
