Director, Research (Health Economics)

Location: Santa Monica, California; Los Angeles preferred, remote also considered. Pay varies by work location.

Salary: $211,000–$337,000 annually for the Santa Monica office; other U.S. pay zones range from $190,000–$404,000 annually.

What you will do

• Set the vision, strategy, quarterly roadmap, goals, KPIs, and operating model for the Research function.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing research team, including hiring and capability building.
• Own priority research projects end to end, from question framing and methodology design through analysis, publication, and impact measurement.
• Apply health economics, statistical, and data science methods to study healthcare, medication access, and drug pricing.
• Develop analyses, models, visualizations, research products, reports, white papers, and briefings from internal and external data.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Government Affairs, Strategy, Sales, Editorial, PR, and other stakeholders while advising senior leaders and representing hirify.global externally.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience with a master's degree, 8+ years with a Ph.D., or an equivalent combination of education and experience in research, health economics, analytics, data science, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of direct people-management and team-development experience.
• Strong knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, prescription drug markets, medication access, or drug pricing.
• Proficiency with R, SQL, and/or Python; ability to evaluate analytical work for methodological soundness.
• Excellent writing, presentation, research-design, prioritization, data-quality, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience with data visualization and required proficiency with Excel; LA preferred, remote also considered.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in economics, health economics, statistics, public health, data science, or another quantitative field.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, or an equivalent visualization tool.
• Experience representing research externally with journalists, academics, or industry stakeholders.
