Executive Director, Biostatistics (Biotechnology)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Hybrid-eligible with remote work permitted up to two days per week, or on-site five days per week with ad hoc flexibility.

Salary: $271,600–$407,400 annual base salary, plus potential annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead statistical methodology and quantitative scientific contributions across multiple therapeutic areas and product portfolios.
• Own statistical support for early- and late-stage clinical development, post-marketing studies, real-world evidence, and reimbursement analyses.
• Drive innovative clinical trial designs that improve efficiency in complex and rapidly changing environments.
• Oversee biostatistics processes, standard operating procedures, process maps, training, and statistical software and tools.
• Contribute to the Biostatistics Leadership Team’s strategy for data operations, statistics, reporting, and analytics.
• Represent Vertex in industry, academic, and regulatory forums.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics.
• 15 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Expertise in statistical methodology, industry best practices, and emerging statistical trends.
• Experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
• Excellent scientific and technical communication, executive-level presentation, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
• Executive presence, emotional intelligence, adaptability, and change leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with novel statistical approaches, innovative trial designs, global medical affairs, or reimbursement evidence.
• Experience collaborating with academic, industry, and regulatory stakeholders.
