Computational Genomics Senior Research Scientist

Location: San Diego, California, United States. Hybrid work is available with at least three days per week on-site, or a full on-site schedule with limited ad hoc flexibility.

Salary: $129,900–$194,900 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and annual equity awards.

What you will do

• Partner with cross-functional disease project teams to identify scientific questions that can be addressed through human genetics, genomics, sequencing, and computational analyses.
• Design, execute, and interpret human genetic, genomic, and multi-omic studies for target discovery, target validation, biomarker development, and mechanistic understanding.
• Apply and develop computational and statistical methods to analyze large-scale biological datasets and integrate internal and public data.
• Own analyses from the initial biological question through actionable recommendations, communicating conclusions, limitations, and next steps.
• Help define genomics strategies across discovery programs and ensure rigorous study design, analysis plans, and interpretation.
• Collaborate with computational and experimental scientists to apply machine learning and AI technologies to biological discovery and genomic data interpretation.

Requirements

• PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, human genetics, systems biology, bioengineering, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience; alternatively, a related Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting human genetics, genomic, and next-generation sequencing data.
• Experience applying computational methods and bioinformatics tools to large-scale biological datasets.
• Proficiency in R, Python, Unix/Linux environments, and high-performance computing systems.
• Strong foundation in statistics and genetics, including the role of human genetic variation in disease biology.
• Ability to independently lead scientific questions from study design through interpretation and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
