Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons (Python/Django)

What you will do

• Deliver major features and architectural improvements across automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.
• Build and operate Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing systems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code workflows, deployments, monitoring, and incident response.
• Create observability systems, actionable insights, runbooks, architecture decision records, and incident documentation.
• Establish engineering standards for testing, production readiness, recoverability, safe deployment, and on-call practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, reviewers, product managers, designers, QA, and open-source contributors while mentoring peers.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications with Python and Django.
• Experience operating reliable production systems and improving CI/CD, automated testing, staged delivery, and declarative infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and alerting.
• Experience with internal engineering platforms, operational practices, incident response, and technical documentation.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases across frontend, backend, asynchronous jobs, data stores, and infrastructure.
• Strong collaboration, communication, technical writing, and peer mentoring skills in a distributed environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, or policy-as-code.
• Experience with SLOs, error budgets, chaos engineering, disaster recovery testing, or production readiness reviews.
• Experience with trust and safety, automated moderation, abuse prevention, or adversarial systems.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
