TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer (Java/React): Building secure, resilient, and high-performing platform services for an audio broadcasting business with an accent on microservices, event-driven communication, infrastructure, and fullstack development. Location: Hybrid in Manchester, United Kingdom, with in-office presence twice a week

is a European media business operating publishing, audio broadcasting, radio, and podcast brands across nine countries.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain frontend and backend platform features with end-to-end ownership from design through deployment.
- Contribute to early-stage prototyping and infrastructure work for a new audio platform.
- Shape squad-level architectural decisions, including service boundaries and asynchronous communication.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, and onboarding support.
- Champion DevOps, CI/CD, automation, observability, testing, and security practices.
- Participate in incident-management rotas and provide hands-on technical support during high-pressure situations.
Requirements
- Solid hands-on experience across frontend and backend development.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, TypeScript, and React.
- Experience designing services in microservices or domain-driven architectures with asynchronous, event-driven communication.
- Practical experience with CI/CD, containerisation, DevOps, security, and production operations.
- Experience mentoring engineers, communicating technical ideas clearly, and documenting technical decisions.
- Experience in a product-led, agile software delivery environment and familiarity with incident management or on-call work.
Nice to have
- Media, audio streaming, or consumer platform experience.
- Interest in AI-assisted development tooling.
