Cloud System Administrator 2 (Linux/Kubernetes)

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; on-site. United States Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph are required.

Salary: $75.67–$102.47 per hour

What you will do

• Monitor health, performance, and reliability across large distributed clusters and mission-critical cloud repositories.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and cloud platform issues; perform root cause analysis and contribute to post-incident reviews.
• Administer and optimize Linux, Hadoop, Accumulo, distributed storage, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Build automation scripts, infrastructure-as-code deployments, monitoring, observability, and alerting frameworks.
• Patch, upgrade, harden, and maintain systems in accordance with security and compliance standards.
• Support incident response, after-hours on-call operations, capacity planning, and collaboration with infrastructure, hardware, network, and security teams.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph and United States Citizenship.
• At least 7 years of Linux systems administration experience, 3 years administering large distributed systems, and 5 years of scripting experience.
• Experience with multi-cluster environments spanning at least three racks and 60 nodes per site.
• Strong knowledge of Hadoop, Accumulo, distributed storage, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, StatefulSets, and persistent volumes.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or Perl; Puppet, Ansible, or Salt; Terraform or CloudFormation; and Git-based CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of networking, storage, high availability, disaster recovery, observability, security hardening, vulnerability scanning, RMF, and TS/SCI operational environments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• CKA-level Kubernetes knowledge.
• Experience with STIG implementation.
