Commissioning Technician (High-Voltage Substations)

What you will do

• Support commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, energization readiness, and permit-to-work processes for high-voltage substations.
• Test and commission transformers, GIS, circuit breakers, protection relays, SCADA systems, communications equipment, and control panels.
• Perform functional testing, point-to-point checks, system integration, troubleshooting, and energization support under senior direction.
• Coordinate with commissioning engineers, project managers, OEMs, engineering and construction teams, and client representatives.
• Maintain test reports, commissioning records, quality observations, issue-resolution records, and as-built documentation.
• Follow the Zero Harm safety program and comply with OSHA, IEC, IEEE, NERC, environmental, and client-specific requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical education and experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in electrical testing and commissioning, preferably involving high-voltage substations, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or industrial power projects.
• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, protection drawings, and test procedures.
• Knowledge of high-voltage equipment, protection systems, substation controls, OSHA requirements, environmental compliance, and safety practices.
• Strong communication, organization, troubleshooting, teamwork, and multitasking skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
