Business Systems Analyst (Appian)

Location: Remote work from home; candidates must be located in AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IN, LA, MD, MS, MO, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, or VA. Travel to meetings and locations throughout the United States may be required.

Salary: $68,800–$94,600 USD annually.

What you will do

• Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, non-functional, and transitional requirements.
• Create business requirements, functional specifications, process maps, workflow models, and user stories.
• Refine and maintain the product backlog in Jira, split stories, connect them to epics, and ensure they meet the Definition of Ready.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Agile teams, business users, and technical stakeholders in a SAFe environment.
• Support technical design reviews, user acceptance testing, test planning, system validation, implementation, and production issue resolution.
• Facilitate refinement sessions and Agile ceremonies while helping resolve differing stakeholder viewpoints.

Requirements

• Hands-on Appian experience is required.
• Bachelor’s degree and three to six years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of SQL, depending on assignment.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, stakeholder analysis, facilitation, conflict resolution, modeling, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in an Agile and SAFe environment and manage changing requirements with limited supervision.
• Must provide reliable high-speed home internet with sufficient bandwidth; a company laptop is provided.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefits management, ancillary benefits management, workers’ compensation, or insurance.
• Agile experience and certifications such as PMP, CBAP, SAFe, or Appian certifications.
• Experience with Java, Mongo, Kafka, DataDog, Splunk, ActiveBatch, SOAP web services, REST APIs, MS SQL Server, Jira, Confluence, Git, SwaggerHub, MS Office, or Power Platform.
