Junior Data Scientist (Machine Learning)

Location: Remote within the continental United States. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain CBP/DHS suitability; an active U.S. Government security clearance is required for consideration.

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 annual base pay, depending on geographic work location, qualifications, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Develop statistical and machine learning models to detect kinematic behaviors using live, historical, time-series, and geospatial data.
• Design and enhance analytic solutions, including feature engineering, classifier optimization, event forecasting, and anomaly detection.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, perform cleansing and validation, and create training and test datasets.
• Select statistical analyses, scoring metrics, and machine learning algorithms to evaluate and improve existing models.
• Create analytic reports, presentations, data visualizations, and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, mission partners, and customer stakeholders to deliver reliable applications and data pipelines.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain CBP/DHS suitability are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in data science, data analytics, computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent additional experience.
• Working knowledge of Python and libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and scipy.
• Experience processing, cleaning, or analyzing time-series or geospatial data, with familiarity with related machine learning techniques.
• Strong knowledge of statistical testing, regression, and probability.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, HDFS, or comparable database and data-file systems; strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Current Top Secret security clearance or CBP/DHS suitability.
• Experience with spatiotemporal data, algorithm performance measurement, model feasibility research, and machine learning algorithm development.
• Agile development experience with Jira, Confluence, or git.
• Experience with PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow.
• Experience visualizing multi-source, multidimensional data and analytic results.
