Substance Abuse Counselor

Location: On-site in Joplin, Missouri, USA. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

What you will do

• Provide individual and group counseling for patients recovering from drug and alcohol disorders.
• Guide new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
• Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and accurate patient records.
• Assess patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs.
• Connect patients with community resources, follow up on referrals, and respond to crisis situations.
• Maintain an inclusive, respectful, and compassionate care environment while meeting regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• CRADC certification is required.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
• State-level requirements must be met.
• Knowledge of substance abuse populations, treatment planning, human behavior, and social services.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment with confidential and sensitive matters and work effectively in stressful situations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment involving prolonged standing, bending, keyboarding, and potential exposure to infectious diseases and bloodborne pathogens.
