Director, Agent Intelligence (AI)

Location: Boston, MA; hybrid work requires three days per week in the Boston office, with remote work allowed up to two days per week, or an onsite five-day schedule

Salary: $216,400–$324,600 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and equity awards

What you will do

• Lead the Agent Intelligence function within Knowledge & Grounding and build reusable foundations for Vertex AI agents.
• Design and operate personal and organizational agent memory, including retention, retrieval, conflict resolution, classification, and long-horizon state.
• Define persona-as-code systems, skill catalogs, tool contracts, registries, reusable prompt assets, and composition workflows.
• Design, build, and deploy flagship enterprise agents using Snowflake Cortex AI, Databricks AI, and orchestration frameworks.
• Establish enterprise standards for orchestration, prompt libraries, tool use, response quality, conversational UX, citations, error handling, and escalation.
• Lead technical teams, communicate with executive stakeholders, and operate production AI systems with monitoring and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, AI/ML, or advanced analytics, including 3+ years focused on NLP systems, AI agents, or conversational AI.
• Hands-on experience building production AI agents with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar orchestration tools.
• Strong enterprise experience with Snowflake Cortex AI and/or Databricks AI platforms.
• Full-stack AI engineering experience across data preparation, prompt engineering, orchestration, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Direct experience designing agent memory, session state, conversational retrieval, and supporting data models.
• Ability to work from the Boston office three days per week for the hybrid schedule, or onsite five days per week.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences experience, including clinical, regulatory, or commercial data.
• Experience designing persona frameworks, skill registries, tool catalogs, or other reusable agent abstractions.
• Familiarity with Braintrust, LangSmith, Mosaic AI Agent Evaluation, Arize, or Ragas.
• Experience with model fine-tuning, distillation, or post-training for domain adaptation.
