Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States; field role with customer-site travel of up to 30–40% as needed.

Salary: $202,500–$274,000 annual base pay, with potential bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build working proof-of-value solutions using prospects’ data and systems, including real integrations and production-like outputs.
• Lead technical discovery, architecture and security reviews, integration assessments, RFP responses, and ROI discussions with finance and IT stakeholders.
• Architect and deploy customer-specific AI Agent configurations that automate complex accounting workflows and strengthen internal controls.
• Troubleshoot customer systems by reviewing Python, writing SQL, and diagnosing integrations, data flows, validations, and API-driven workflows.
• Act as the technical escalation point and primary technical contact for implementations, renewals, expansions, and customer transformation engagements.
• Share customer feedback with Product and Core Engineering while creating implementation guides, expansion frameworks, and reusable deployment assets.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, technical consulting, or a comparable customer-embedded engineering role.
• Deep experience with agentic AI, including LangChain, LangGraph, MCP servers, multi-agent systems, RAG, vector stores, or hybrid retrieval.
• Experience with LLMs and related tooling, including OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, GitHub Copilot, Gemini Code Assist, and prompt engineering.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, webhooks, SQL, and enterprise integrations, plus the ability to troubleshoot Python-based systems.
• Ability to manage multiple technical deployments, translate ambiguity into executable requirements, and communicate with engineers, executives, CFOs, Controllers, and IT teams.
• Ability to travel to customer sites up to 30–40% for technical evaluations, deployments, training, and adoption workshops.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-growth SaaS, applied AI, fintech, ERP, accounting, or one of the listed priority industry verticals.
• Prior customer-site experience on a multi-month implementation, forward-deployed, implementation consulting, or field engineering engagement.
• Experience as a veteran, management consultant, competitive programmer, or PhD.
