Director, San Diego Technology (IoT)

Location: San Diego, California, United States. Hybrid work allows remote work up to two days per week, or an on-site designation with five days per week on-site and ad hoc flexibility.

Base salary: $198,000–$297,000 per year, plus annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, delivery, security, support, and continuous evolution of enterprise laboratory IT and OT platforms across San Diego.
• Manage laboratory technology operations in alignment with cyber security, ITSM, ITIL, compliance, quality, and system lifecycle standards.
• Lead and develop the Lab Engineering Support organization, including internal resources and managed service provider partners.
• Own the approximately $3 million annual operating budget, including forecasting, vendor management, and value realization.
• Serve as the primary technology partner for San Diego research leadership and shape site requirements into prioritized enterprise platform demand.
• Drive adoption, change management, modernization, intelligent automation, passive data capture, IoT-enabled instruments, and connected laboratory environments.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading enterprise-scale technology platforms, support organizations, complex programs, portfolios, and vendor ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of enterprise technology operations, cyber security, ITSM, and system lifecycle practices.
• Demonstrated people leadership and experience building high-performing teams.
• Experience working in GxP- and SOX-regulated environments with financial accountability.
• Strong executive communication, analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder partnership, and product ownership or demand-shaping skills.
