Software Engineering Intern (Robotics)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; the role combines office-based work with physical activity in field or production environments.

Salary: $18.00–$37.00 per hour across U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Write maintainable C++ and/or Python software for robotic systems.
• Develop and test software controlling robot motion and autonomous behavior.
• Integrate and work with vision sensors, robot arms, and other robotic hardware.
• Debug software and hardware interactions on physical systems.
• Prepare software documentation and participate in peer reviews, design discussions, testing, and engineering activities.
• Support vehicle control software through troubleshooting and system reprogramming.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of different types of information.
• Ability to work across office, field, and production environments, including standing, walking across shop floors, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to shift between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++, Python, or a similar programming language through coursework, clubs, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with software engineering concepts and data structures.
• Experience in controls, motion planning, perception, or autonomy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
• Detail orientation, adaptability, independent work skills, and the ability to prioritize under changing needs or tight deadlines.
