TL;DR
Scientist I - Organic Prep - Environment Testing (Chemistry/Laboratory Testing): Preparing environmental samples and performing routine chemical analyses with an accent on GMP/GLP compliance, accurate data handling, and laboratory safety. Focus on learning complex instrumentation, maintaining instruments, and executing standardized preparation and testing methods under close supervision.

Location: South Bend, Indiana, USA; onsite, first shift Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Salary: $20.15–$27 per hour

What you will do

  • Prepare environmental samples using standard laboratory techniques, including aliquoting and weighing.
  • Perform routine chemical analyses, calculate results, and record and report data and unusual test occurrences.
  • Apply GMP, GLP, environmental health and safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain routine laboratory instruments and become trained on complex systems such as gas chromatography, GC/MS, atomic absorption, and ICP.
  • Wash glassware, maintain housekeeping, and conduct laboratory activities safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • BS or BA in chemistry or a related field; three years of laboratory experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is required, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
  • Ability to use calculators and mathematical formulas, follow written or verbal instructions, work independently, solve problems, and manage time.
  • Ability to learn and follow protocols in organic preparation, metals analysis, chromatography, radiochemistry, wet chemistry, or related disciplines.

  • Previous laboratory experience.
  • Previous production-oriented work experience.
