Chemist I (GC VOA)

Location: Tustin, California, USA; onsite laboratory work. Saturday–Wednesday, 7:00am–4:00pm, with overtime as needed.

Salary: $18–$22 per hour, plus a 10% shift differential for the Saturday–Wednesday shift.

What you will do

• Prepare water and soil samples for analysis using purge-and-trap gas chromatography.
• Evaluate chromatographic data against qualitative and quantitative criteria.
• Manage analytical backlogs and meet client program requirements.
• Upload and peer-review data in the laboratory information management system.
• Maintain instruments, including column replacement, ion source cleaning, calibration, and basic repairs.
• Prepare standards and reagents while maintaining safe, organized, and compliant laboratory operations.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience operating a GC in an academic or production laboratory; three years of laboratory experience may substitute for a chemistry degree.
• BS or BA in chemistry or a related field, or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, manage time, multitask, and work independently from written and verbal instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
