TL;DR
Principal AI Architect (Federal AI): Setting the technical direction for safe, traceable, human-in-the-loop agentic AI and analytics platforms for Federal data modernization with an accent on LLMs, RAG, semantic search, governance, and secure on-premises deployment. Focus on designing retrieval and evaluation patterns, implementing guardrails and source traceability, and integrating Government-controlled data and infrastructure.
Location: Bethesda, MD; U.S. citizenship required

What you will do
- Set the technical direction for safe, traceable, human-in-the-loop agentic AI and analytics.
- Architect a secure, scalable platform integrating structured and unstructured data, visualization, and AI-assisted analytics.
- Collaborate with pilot agencies and multidisciplinary technical teams through iterative development and user testing.
- Produce documentation supporting Government operation, maintenance, transition, and future expansion.
- Apply Federal security, privacy, accessibility, records-management, and Government data-ownership requirements.
Requirements
- Deep experience designing agentic AI, LLM, NLP, semantic-search, or advanced analytics solutions.
- Experience defining AI architecture, model strategy, retrieval patterns, evaluation methods, guardrails, and governance.
- Experience delivering secure AI capabilities using Government-controlled data and infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of RAG, grounded generation, source traceability, human-in-the-loop design, and on-premises model deployment.
- Familiarity with Linux, PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server, Java or .NET, Jenkins, self-hosted Azure DevOps, Kubernetes/Rancher, and open-source AI models.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret eligibility are required; active Top Secret clearance is highly preferred.
Nice to have
- Federal financial management, budget execution, grants management, payment systems, award oversight, financial reporting, or financial stewardship experience.
- Experience supporting Federal financial management, grants, payment, or award-oversight platforms.
