Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Fully remote, with an office in Scotland; applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Salary: £55,000–£75,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus an annual performance bonus and employee profit share.

What you will do

• Own and manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPC architecture, load balancers, and network infrastructure.
• Administer production Linux systems and optimise nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Build and improve infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible, and strengthen CI/CD processes using Bitbucket Pipelines or equivalent tools.
• Manage CDN, WAF, monitoring, and alerting across platforms including Akamai, Cloudflare, Zabbix, AWS CloudWatch, Pingdom, and New Relic.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term reliability, security, scalability, and performance improvements.
• Develop automation and operational tooling with Python and Bash, while participating in a shared 24/7 on-call rota.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Senior Systems Administration.
• Strong commercial experience supporting Linux-based production environments and hands-on AWS experience with EC2, VPCs, networking, and load balancing.
• Proven Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and Ansible, plus scripting and automation skills using Python and Bash.
• Experience with production application and data technologies, CDN and WAF platforms, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong incident investigation, diagnostic, problem-solving, communication, and prioritisation skills.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call arrangement.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Akamai.
• Experience with Bitbucket Pipelines or an equivalent deployment platform.
