Senior Industrial Designer (3D Printing)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; onsite role

Company

Develops 3D printing tools used to design, prototype, and manufacture physical products, including medical devices.

What you will do

• Design new products from initial concepts through production.
• Develop design concepts and communicate them through compelling visuals, presentations, and storytelling.
• Prototype continuously, from quick mockups to refined cosmetic models.
• Test designs with users and incorporate findings into the design process.
• Define and refine the hardware user experience from unboxing through maintenance.
• Create high-quality CAD and collaborate with Product, UI Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing on balanced solutions.

Requirements

• Portfolio or website demonstrating relevant design work is required.
• University degree in Industrial Design.
• 3–5 years of design experience in high-tech industries, ideally involving electromechanical systems, consumer products, or robotics.
• Strong aesthetic judgment, attention to detail, presentation, storytelling, and hand-sketching skills.
• High proficiency in 3D CAD, KeyShot, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Experience with varied prototyping methods and solving problems involving engineering and manufacturability constraints.
