Industrial Design Intern (Automotive)

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States; willing to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the summer 2025 internship

Salary: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

What you will do

• Generate industrial design concepts through sketches, models, visualizations, research, and creative exploration.
• Create renderings, 3D models, animations, prototypes, presentations, and digital experiences.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to translate customer and user needs into design solutions.
• Apply human-centered design principles to balance usability, functionality, styling, experience, and brand identity.
• Use digital and physical prototyping to evaluate and communicate vehicle, product, interface, and experience concepts.
• Research design trends, user needs, emerging technologies, visualization methods, and competitor products.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in industrial design, product design, transportation design, or a related field.
• Willingness to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for the duration of the summer 2025 internship.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Portfolio of work required with the application.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in analog and digital 2D sketching.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchbookPro, or Figma.
• Experience with 3D modeling and rendering tools such as Alias, Rhinoceros, Maya/V-Ray, Blender, or KeyShot.
• Knowledge of automotive and transportation design trends, manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping, and physical modeling.
• Experience using VR and other virtual tools for design exploration and communication.
