What you will do
- Set the multi-year industrial design strategy, design language, standards, CMF, and ergonomics across the Shark and Ninja portfolio.
- Lead a globally distributed, multi-layer industrial design organization of managers and principal designers.
- Own organizational design, hiring, leveling, succession planning, budget, headcount, and external agency partnerships.
- Establish critique culture and craft standards while making final design decisions when technical or commercial constraints conflict with design intent.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Brand executives to shape product direction and connect design decisions to commercial outcomes.
- Define the enterprise strategy for AI, generative design, and emerging technologies in the design workflow, and represent design externally.
Requirements
- 15+ years of industrial design experience, including 8+ years leading teams and experience managing managers.
- Experience owning design strategy for a large, complex consumer product portfolio shipped from concept through mass production.
- A portfolio demonstrating brand-defining products, measurable consumer and commercial impact, and design organizations or cultures built.
- Credibility with C-suite peers and experience turning design vision into funded business roadmaps.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing, materials, DFM, and CMF, with experience balancing cost, feasibility, speed to market, and design intent.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Rhino, or equivalent 3D CAD, strong sketching and visual storytelling, and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
