Design Intern - Summer 2027 (Automotive/Aerospace) (CAD and vehicle/product development): Supporting vehicle system and product design projects across motorsports, automotive, defense, and commercial industries with an accent on parametric 3D modeling, GD&T, materials, and product validation. Focus on developing virtual prototypes, assisting with testing and engineering analysis, and creating designs under the mentorship of senior designers and engineers.
Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States
Salary: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

What you will do
- Support vehicle system design and development projects.
- Contribute to product design and development for motorsports, automotive, defense, and commercial applications.
- Develop virtual prototypes and engineering designs using CAD tools.
- Assist with testing, validation, and engineering analysis.
- Work independently, with a senior design mentor, or in a small design and engineering team.
Requirements
- Some CAD experience with parametric 3D modeling.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Technical writing skills using Microsoft Word and Excel, plus presentation skills in PowerPoint.
- Understanding of materials, structural product processes, and testing techniques used to validate product integrity.
- Candidate for a BS or MS degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering.
- Must meet ITAR/EAR access requirements, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or applicable licensure eligibility.
Nice to have
- Experience with ProE, Unigraphics, CATIA, SolidWorks, IDEAS, or Mechanical Desktop.
- Experience with Ansys, NASTRAN, or OptiStruct linear static structural analysis.
