Director, Mechanical Engineering (Data Centers)

Location: Denver, CO preferred; alternate STACK data center locations may be considered. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Some domestic travel is required, estimated at 25–33%.

Salary: $197,600–$221,300 per year

What you will do

• Support innovation initiatives, campus master planning, and multi-phase, campus-scale data center construction projects.
• Oversee the preparation and final approval of contract documents produced by third-party design consultants.
• Ensure designs are delivered on schedule and within budget while providing mechanical engineering guidance for existing facilities, projects, operations, and systems.
• Develop and maintain equipment specifications for owner-furnished and contractor-installed systems, and support procurement through submittal reviews, approvals, and factory witness testing.
• Maintain legacy basis-of-design documents and develop new standards for emerging business needs.
• Identify and implement technologies, policies, and engineering standards that improve data center energy efficiency, cost effectiveness, security, and operational consistency.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience designing data centers and specifying HVAC equipment for mission-critical facilities for Director-level consideration.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Expertise in IT cooling technologies, including air cooling and direct-to-chip liquid cooling.
• Understanding of mechanical cooling system controls.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
• Baseline proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat; Professional Engineer registration in mechanical engineering is preferred.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer registration in mechanical engineering.
• Five to seven years of data center design experience may qualify candidates for consideration at the Manager level.
