Senior Advanced Manufacturing Manager (3D Printing)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; onsite. Occasional late-evening coordination with colleagues in different time zones and approximately 10–20% travel to vendors, suppliers, and production facilities, mostly in China.

What you will do

• Lead manufacturing engineering professionals supporting global manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
• Sustain manufacturing lines at contract manufacturers and support production transitions.
• Investigate process and product failures, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and develop mistake-proofing solutions.
• Own manufacturing process controls for assembly, printer calibration, verification testing, reliability, quality, and yield.
• Lead manufacturing technical readiness within cross-functional NPI programs, including producibility, cost effectiveness, industrialization, DFM/DFA/DFSS, and lessons learned.
• Resolve first article inspection, product, and fixture assembly issues while securing mass-production capacity, throughput, yield, and process capability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, or related engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in engineering management or engineering team leadership.
• 5+ years of technical experience, preferably in manufacturing engineering and complex electromechanical product industrialization at scale.
• Experience managing remote NPI activities and contract manufacturers, including prototype-to-mass-production transitions for high-accuracy products.
• Expertise in production quality metrics, GD&T, and process and equipment qualification procedures.
• Proficiency in DOE, comparison testing, Gage R&R, A3, 8D, DMAIC, fault-tree analysis, statistical process control, and Cp/Cpk process capability.

Nice to have

• Experience with Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP product development stages.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification with the ability to apply and teach statistical problem-solving methods.
• Experience with JMP, Minitab, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, or similar data tools.
• SolidWorks or Onshape CAD modeling experience.
