Internal Audit Specialist

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; on-site role

What you will do

• Lead the preparation, coordination, testing, and reporting of the annual internal audit plan.
• Maintain SOX 404 audit documentation, including control evaluation matrices and internal control reports.
• Help build the internal audit function, including its methodology, governance, and tooling.
• Own and implement an internal control platform such as Workiva or AuditBoard.
• Coordinate internal control audits, identify essential control points, and serve as a primary contact for external auditors.
• Partner with business process owners to strengthen controls and support strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 2 years focused on SEC internal control reporting within a public company.
• Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, COSO standards, and risk management strategies.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Hands-on experience with internal control software such as Workiva or AuditBoard is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as NetSuite, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite.

Nice to have

• Certified Public Accountant designation.
• Big Four public accounting experience.
• Experience in a high-growth or scaling company.
