Engineering Manager (WordPress)

Location: Remote within the EMEA region, including the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Portugal, and Nigeria, with CET and GMT time coverage

Salary: £55,000–£65,000 per annum, dependent on location and experience

What you will do

• Manage, coach, and mentor engineers, supporting their wellbeing, development, and career progression.
• Lead a cross-functional squad by setting goals, facilitating retrospectives and check-ins, and building accountability.
• Conduct performance reviews and one-to-ones, collect feedback, and turn it into constructive development plans.
• Represent the engineering team in discussions about team structure, wellbeing, and professional development.
• Collaborate with engineering managers, discipline leads, delivery teams, and commercial teams to align practices and resolve issues.
• Identify engineering knowledge gaps and guide training while staying current with WordPress best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Broad understanding of WordPress, React, APIs, software architecture, and other technologies used by hirify.global.
• Proven experience leading an engineering team, ideally in an agency environment.
• Strong communication, team-building, organisational, feedback, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Experience working remotely and supporting engineers' professional growth.
• Fluent written and spoken English at CEFR C1 level or equivalent.
