Engineering Manager, Agentic Internet & Data Insights

Location: Hybrid; available location is Lisbon, Portugal. The role may require occasional on-call work outside standard working hours and an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

Salary: €74,000–€111,000 annual salary for Portugal-based hires. The role is also eligible for hirify.global’s equity plan.

What you will do

• Manage, coach, and grow engineers working across AI-powered search, Internet data insights, and customer-facing products.
• Set priorities, improve delivery predictability, and give engineers the context and autonomy to own meaningful product areas.
• Lead search and retrieval capabilities that help people and AI agents find relevant, trustworthy, and current content.
• Partner with Product Management to shape the roadmap and turn customer problems into clear engineering outcomes.
• Explore how signals from hirify.global’s global network can support content discovery, customer insights, and new product experiences.
• Own operational health, including observability, incident response, data and search quality, and long-term reliability.

Requirements

• Experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, retaining, and growing engineers.
• Strong technical credibility with experienced engineers and the ability to evaluate distributed systems and data-platform design trade-offs.
• Experience managing teams across several related technical areas and creating clarity in ambiguous environments.
• Strong understanding of reliability, quality, and operational excellence for systems whose output is data used to understand the Internet.
• Strong product judgment and experience partnering with Product Management on roadmap decisions.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with crawling, content ingestion, indexing, retrieval, analytics, or large-scale data processing.
• Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI developer products, AI agents, publishers, or content-heavy websites.
• Experience with large-scale telemetry or Internet-scale datasets.
• Familiarity with hirify.global Radar, Internet measurement research, or tools for understanding Internet performance, availability, and security.
