HSE Advisor (Power Transmission & Distribution)

Location: Site based in Alness, Scotland, United Kingdom; supporting an approximately 80km power transmission project between Loch Buidhe and Beauly.

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day health, safety, and environmental advice, assurance, monitoring, and coaching to project teams.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, behavioural safety observations, and environmental inspections across construction activities.
• Review risk assessments and method statements, monitor permit-to-work systems, and verify controls for high-risk activities.
• Support incident investigations, identify root causes, prepare reports, and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, environmental awareness sessions, and workforce engagement activities.
• Maintain HSE records, action trackers, performance reports, and compliance with the Integrated Management System.

Requirements

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities, or power transmission and distribution projects.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and experience conducting site inspections and audits.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to challenge constructively, influence site teams, work independently, and support continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IEMA Environmental Certificate.
• IOSH membership, incident investigation training, or temporary works awareness.
• Environmental auditing experience.
• Experience with National Grid, SSEN, SPEN, or similar utility projects.
