Sandlings East Beat Work Supervisor

Location: Tangham hub outstation near Woodbridge, Suffolk. The role combines office work with outdoor duties in all seasons, walking across rough ground and occasional off-site meetings or training requiring overnight stays.

What you will do

• Supervise the safe and effective delivery of forestry operations across Rendlesham, Tunstall, Dunwich Forest and the wider beat.
• Support the Forester in planning and organising large-scale programmes covering harvesting, restocking, vegetation management and hazardous tree work.
• Coordinate work delivered by Beat Craftspeople and contractors.
• Help protect forests, maintain SSSI/SPA habitats, safeguard heritage and provide public access.
• Ensure operational work meets UKFS, UKWAS and FISA standards.

Requirements

• Forestry knowledge and practical experience in operational forestry.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and walk across rough ground.
• Ability to provide accurate spoken English is required.
• Willingness to attend off-site meetings and training events, including occasional overnight stays.
• Successful candidates must complete a criminal record check and the government Baseline Personnel Security Standard check.
