Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Asheboro and Greensboro, North Carolina. Remote-field position requiring residence within the listed service territory, work from home, in-person appointments using a mobile office or vehicle, and occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage, including roofs and hard-to-access areas.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Explain coverage, policy terms, and the claims process to policyholders and other stakeholders.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed reports.
• Evaluate coverage, negotiate settlements, and resolve claims within authorized limits.
• Provide professional customer service during difficult or emotionally charged claim situations.

Requirements

• Strong investigation, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret detailed policies, guidelines, and technical information and apply them accurately.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders and roofs, lift and carry equipment, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license; rope and harness safety training may be required.
• Successful completion of required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and pre-employment assessments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Customer service experience and knowledge of property insurance and claims handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction, building materials, water mitigation, and inspection processes.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
