Location: Metro Detroit, Michigan — Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County. Hybrid field schedule, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM EST, with travel to homes, repair facilities, and other field locations. Travel outside the assigned territory and occasional overnight stays may be required.
Salary: $75,000-$88,000 annually, plus an annual company bonus incentive. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is available to qualified candidates.

What you will do
- Inspect property damage and investigate homeowners claims, including claims valued over $100,000 in the field role.
- Conduct coverage analysis, review policyholder benefits, apply applicable state law, and determine payment limits, exclusions, and recovery potential.
- Prepare and review damage estimates using claims software, evaluate losses, approve payments, and monitor contractor repairs when needed.
- Contact insureds and affected parties, explain claim expectations, negotiate settlements, and provide customer service throughout the claim process.
- Document claim files, create sub-claims, complete claim closures, and refer cases to underwriting, recovery, or special investigation units.
- Travel to field locations, assist with file reviews and training, and work independently across the assigned territory.
Requirements
- Three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimating, subrogation, coverage resolution, statements, and claim planning.
- Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Eligibility to obtain a state adjuster license within 90 days of hire where required, and maintain the license as applicable.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for field inspections.
- Advanced knowledge of Michigan's Essential Insurance Act, Fair Trade Practices Act, subrogation, intercompany arbitration, simple litigation, and building construction and repair techniques.
- Ability to travel, work evenings or weekends when required, and relocate if necessary; physical ability to walk on roofs, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in business administration, insurance, claims, management, or a related field.
- CPCU coursework or designation and Xactware training.
- One to two years of full-cycle homeowners claims experience, including personal property, additional living expense, water loss, fire, or smoke claims.
