Senior Assembly Process Engineer (Optical Fiber)

What you will do

• Develop and design ultra-clean assembly workflows and manufacturing processes for optical fiber, semiconductor, laser, and life science products.
• Transfer new processes into series production and establish process specifications, controls, and quality assurance measures.
• Optimize assembly processes and internal procedures to improve productivity, efficiency, cost, quality, yield, and production readiness.
• Lead testing strategies, process development, design reviews, DFM activities, NPI, and project handovers.
• Mentor the team, coordinate technical project activities, manage priorities, and communicate with customers during escalations.
• Implement safety engineering controls and training, including laser safety risk assessments and audits, while tracking RFQ turnaround times.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical, Materials, Mechanical, Precision Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in technical, engineering, or manufacturing environments, preferably in optical or laser cleanrooms.
• Experience leading teams in mechanical, optical, laser, or fiber product development or manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with DFM, NPI, process development, DOE, 8D, Lean Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and process improvement.
• Experience commissioning test and metrology systems, maintaining process controls and quality systems, and working in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS9100 environments.
• Knowledge of fiber processing, contamination control, precision clean assembly documentation, project management, AutoCAD or SolidWorks, ERP systems such as SAP, and Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of RGA process controls.
• Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Quality Management certification, such as ASQ CQE or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
• Knowledge and experience in laser and fiber assembly.
• N3 Laser Licence.
