Staff Engineer, AI Platform Enablement and Emerging Applications

Location: Daily onsite presence at the San Jose headquarters, United States; 10% domestic travel.

Salary: $163,000–$253,000 USD per year, plus incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Lead SSD enablement and qualification for next-generation NVIDIA, AMD, and other AI and compute platforms.
• Own sample planning, allocation, validation schedules, issue tracking, and production readiness for NPI programs.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for customer platform qualification and integration.
• Coordinate system-level testing and resolve SSD, PCIe/NVMe, firmware, thermal, power, performance, and interoperability issues.
• Align product, firmware, hardware, validation, quality, FAE, operations, and customer organizations.
• Evaluate emerging AI storage workloads and develop feasibility studies, benchmarks, proofs of concept, and future product opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience, Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years in a relevant technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in enterprise SSD, server platforms, storage systems, semiconductors, or data center infrastructure engineering.
• Experience with server, accelerator, or data center platform qualification and NPI programs.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise SSDs, PCIe, NVMe, server architecture, firmware, performance, power, thermal behavior, and interoperability.
• Experience debugging complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, software, and platform boundaries.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and willingness to travel for customer engagements, qualification activities, and industry events.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GPU-based AI infrastructure, high-performance networking, PCIe switches and retimers, local NVMe storage, and large-scale server deployments.
• Experience with AI inference, KV cache and context storage, memory extension, checkpointing, GPU-direct I/O, or agentic AI workloads.
