Principal Application/System Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; onsite role

Salary: $125,000–$170,000 annually, plus a 3% bonus target

What you will do

• Shape system architecture, requirements, performance targets, and subsystem interfaces for the WaferSense product line.
• Guide cross-functional development, system integration, testing, and validation across engineering disciplines.
• Lead technical reviews, trade studies, risk assessments, and corrective-action verification.
• Contribute to hands-on design, prototyping, experiments, troubleshooting, calibration methods, fixtures, and production processes.
• Translate customer and business needs into technical requirements and development priorities.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen technical capability across the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of R&D and product development experience developing complex systems and leading cross-functional technical efforts.
• Strong technical depth with experience in design, prototyping, integration, validation, and system-level trade-offs.
• Ability to structure investigations, design experiments, interpret data, and verify engineering solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to align teams and explain technical recommendations.

Nice to have

• Experience with precision products, sensors, metrology systems, scientific instruments, or semiconductor equipment.
• Experience guiding multidisciplinary development from concept through production release.
• Experience with calibration, measurement systems, test fixtures, manufacturing-process development, or complex manufacturing and field-performance issues.
