Senior Supplier Development & Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California; Rio Rancho, New Mexico; or Allen, Texas. On-site supplier and hirify.global visits are required as needed, potentially up to 40% travel. The role may require access to classified information, restricted U.S. Government sites, systems, or information.

What you will do

• Own supplier development and supplier quality for a portfolio of external manufacturing partners.
• Lead supplier recovery efforts involving constrained capacity, production delays, material shortages, tooling issues, and sub-tier dependencies.
• Translate drawings, specifications, quality clauses, and acceptance criteria into manufacturing, inspection, and control plans.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, test, and strategic sourcing teams during supplier selection and new product introduction.
• Lead supplier qualification, audits, production-readiness reviews, AS9102 FAIRs, PPAP submissions, PFMEAs, control plans, and process-capability activities.
• Resolve nonconformances, supplier escapes, audit findings, yield losses, and late deliveries through root-cause analysis and corrective action.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• 6+ years of experience in supplier development, supplier quality, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related role supporting high-reliability hardware.
• Experience taking hardware from development through qualification and production with external manufacturing partners.
• Working knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, with depth in at least two areas such as CNC machining, sheet metal forming, welding, additive manufacturing, composites, chemical processing, surface treatments, or complex assembly.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, inspection reports, and process documentation, and working directly on supplier factory floors.
• Active U.S. Government security clearance or ability to obtain one; U.S. work authorization and other eligibility requirements may apply for classified or export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, AS9102 FAIR, PFMEA, control plans, measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, supplier audits, and corrective actions.
• Six Sigma, Lean, quality engineering, or structured problem-solving training or certification.
• Experience with inspection strategies, acceptance criteria, low-volume high-consequence hardware, second sources, supplier capacity expansion, or emerging suppliers.
• Experience with ERP, MRP, PLM, MES, quality-management systems, Excel, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
