TL;DR
Senior Quality Engineer I (Aerospace): Managing and improving quality systems for spacecraft components and aerospace manufacturing processes with an accent on AS9100 compliance, product lifecycle quality, and supplier performance. Focus on leading audits, root cause analysis, corrective actions, nonconformance reviews, and data-driven quality metrics.

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States; onsite at hirify.global's Albuquerque site. The role may require travel for off-site testing, customer repair trips, or program meetings.

What you will do

  • Promote a quality culture centered on continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System, including procedures, work instructions, manuals, records, and compliance processes.
  • Collaborate on design reviews, new product development, contract reviews, engineering changes, in-process monitoring, and product lifecycle quality.
  • Lead quality improvements, root cause analysis, corrective actions, internal and supplier audits, nonconformance reviews, and material or corrective action boards.
  • Develop sampling plans, inspection requirements, and procedures for incoming, in-process, and final product quality assurance.
  • Automate and monitor quality metrics covering discrepancies, nonconformances, supplier quality, corrective actions, RMAs, KPIs, and cost of poor quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing cross-functional projects in a technical environment.
  • For U.S. office roles, eligibility under U.S. Government space technology export regulations is required: U.S. citizenship, lawful U.S. permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and using a computer, with occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Nice to have

  • Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries, maintaining data integrity, and creating reports with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
  • Experience automating document creation, assembly, and distribution.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management System standards and principles, statistics, and data-driven problem solving.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures, drawings, government regulations, and standards, and to write quality procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with customers, regulatory agencies, inspectors, manufacturing teams, and other cross-functional groups.
