Software QA Engineer (QA Automation)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; hybrid work model with time split between an assigned Intel site and off-site work.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and execute software test plans, test cases, and test suites across operational environments and system configurations.
• Build and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks, expanding regression coverage and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Validate user workflows, system performance, web services, APIs, data flows, and integrations across distributed systems.
• Debug complex and intermittent defects, perform root cause analysis, and document corrective actions.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and operational stakeholders on acceptance criteria, design reviews, code reviews, and testability.
• Maintain test findings, defect metrics, verification records, and quality engineering standards.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline with 3+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or a relevant Ph.D. with no prior professional experience.
• Experience with test automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or equivalent languages.
• Experience debugging complex software stacks, analyzing logs, isolating defects, and performing root cause analysis.
• Experience testing REST/RPC web services, distributed systems, and unit, integration, functional, regression, and performance testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins, and containerized testing with Docker.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Jira, semiconductor manufacturing software, EDA tools, Linux/Windows internals, or platform-level software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
