Lead Software Engineer in Test (QA Automation)

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Set the long-term quality and automated testing strategy, including frameworks, tooling, coverage, and quality gates.
• Design and implement maintainable automation across integration, UI, and end-to-end testing layers.
• Plan test coverage with product squads and automate critical functionality across backend, frontend, and asynchronous systems.
• Improve test pipeline health, reduce flaky tests, optimize CI/CD stages, and accelerate safe deployments.
• Build realistic, scalable test environments with Infrastructure and guide root-cause analysis of failures.
• Mentor engineers and promote testability, quality ownership, and reliable testing practices across product teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering, including 3+ years in a senior or lead test engineering role.
• Experience architecting or maintaining large-scale automation frameworks.
• Fluency in Python and TypeScript or JavaScript, with experience in Playwright, Cypress, pytest, or REST API testing frameworks.
• Experience testing modern stacks including FastAPI, Vue.js, and event-driven systems such as Inngest.
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, AWS EKS, Kubernetes, RDS PostgreSQL, and distributed systems.
• Ability to translate product requirements into executable multi-layer test strategies and collaborate with Product, Backend, Frontend, and DevOps teams.
